- Gonzales' Specialist quote

Sergeant First Class Santiago Gonzales is a Mexican Support Gunner specialist who may have served with The Ghosts during the Colombian Conflict of 2010.

History

Santiago Gonzales was born in October 9, 1972 in Puebla, Mexico. Father (Deivi, d. 2006) was a dentist, mother (Lucita) owned several small businesses. Upper middle class upbringing, only child.

Military career

Attended Heroico Colegio Militar in Mexico City after graduation from private military academy. Graduated 1989 and joined Army as Second Lieutenant. Served in Sonoma Province for 5 years, often working in conjunction with US military forces, promoted twice. Accepted into Superior War College in Mexico City. Graduated with rank of Diplomato de Estado Mayor in 1997. Assigned to Chiapas Province and was involved in several confrontations with ELZN rebels. Accepted into Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation in 2002. Stayed on as guest instructor through 2006. Attached on rotating basis to Ghosts in 2007.

Personality

Gonzales is honorable, forthright, and fiercely proud of both his native country and his service to it. He refuses to discuss his time in Chiapas, but there are rumors that he was transferred away from the theater for his own safety after he uncovered evidence of human rights abuses. Gonzales traveled extensively when he was young, and one of his motivations for serving with the Ghosts is getting the chance to do so again. Santiago is part of a tightly-knit family, and stays in as close contact with his mother as possible, even when the Ghosts are in the field. He's a champion-level dominoes players and speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese fluently.
